The legislation totals $95 billion in assistance to Ukraine, Israel, and the Indo-Pacific.
The House of Representatives passed bills that will provide assistance to Ukraine, Israel, and Indo-Pacific partners, including Taiwan. Separate legislation to address border security was voted down. The Senate is expected to vote on the foreign aid measures on Tuesday.
President Biden commended the House for “passing urgently needed national security legislation that I have fought for months to secure.”
Speaker Johnson said of the border security measure, which did not have support from the Senate majority or the White House, “Some of my colleagues want the speaker of the House to have a magic wand. If we could close the border ourselves, we would have done it a long time ago.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for Speaker Johnson as he presides over the House of Representatives.
- For members of the Senate to be discerning as they take up the legislation passed by the House.
